Life is so interesting.
Let me say that again.
Life is so interesting.
We have reached a point in time where we have to say stuff like this twice to give it any meaning.
Life is so interesting😂. You open that door to your imagination and you turn into Alice in Wonderland. Everything is new, so different from what you see on the outside. It makes the difficulties of life seem so bearable. But today, I am not here to talk to you about the interesting life inside us we almost always fail to recognise. I am going to talk about what I like most- the small things in life. I would like to start by explaining the title.
Sticky notes?🤔
What in the world is that supposed to mean?😒
Well, this is why I gave that title to this post.
My cousins came for a visit a few days ago. They gave me this giant set of sticky notes. Yeah, a simple gift. But I was amazed at how much it impacted my daily life. It was like this spark of inspiration. It gave me this inspiration to organise my room that had turned into a junkyard over the years. Which would have to be some inspiration. And believe me when I say that a set of sticky notes did this. In a few days, my textbooks had sticky notes arranged neatly on every page.
It’s amazing what something new can do to your life.
Look around your room. That table over at the corner, that is home to a pile of waste papers and notebooks? Clean that up and when you’re finished, spent a few minutes just looking at it. I mean literally looking at it. It’s called admiring your work, something we have stopped doing. You will not be able to deny that spark. It’s like a void in your mind is being filled. Your creativity opens up to possibility and together they create this recipe for inspiration like no other.
The point I am trying to make here is that nothing in this life is unimportant. The boring bus rides home, your morning coffee, they are all important. It all depends on the way we define ‘important’. The world around us has influenced our daily lives so much that it now defines what is important and what is not. These small things in life put together an invaluable reservoir of inspiration, hope and creativity.
But though we deny it in our daily lives, the philosophy is alive everywhere. Look at the English alphabet. No letter in a word is important on its own. But put it with a group of letters or before a name. Suddenly, it becomes invaluable.
It is from the small things in life that we draw inspiration to attempt the big challenges in life.
We are constantly changing. We have changed a lot from the time when we were kids. When I was a kid, I remember looking around and thinking ‘how in the world did I get here?’. But now I don’t find myself asking that question, because in my search for truth, I realised that there is a God and that he loves me so much.
Over time, our priorities change and we find ourselves taking many things in life for granted like at the start of this post. We start to complain about life. We fail to find the fingerprints of life and creativity in the small things in life.
This post is about loving the small things in your life today. Look out the window today. Look at the sun going down and reach out and feel it. It is an unlimited and free source of inspiration. God gave that to you for free. No taxes.
Sherlock Holmes says, “Our highest assurance of the goodness of Providence seems to me to rest in the flowers. All other things — our powers, our desires, our food — are all really necessary for our existence in the first instance. But this rose is an extra. Its smell and its colour are an embellishment of life, not a condition of it. It is only goodness which gives extras, and so I say again that we have much to hope from the flowers.”
Man, he makes it so simple.🤔
Thank you, Sherlock. I’ve been trying to put that together for the past half an hour.
Anyway, draw inspiration from everything around you do today. Everything is important.
God bless .. . . . . ☺
